I have been asked by a friend to see my photos without processing. Now its not secret I love to process my photos, but I start with the very best I can get and work from there. I remember an old saying, “you can’t make strawberry jam out of pig sh*t” and thats true for photography.

So here you go, below is a shot straight from the raw file, not processing, not jpeg. I love winter for photos, its great when it all just works.

Well I was supposed to get out with Jamie Paterson to take a few snaps this morning, but he was unfortunately sick.

We had intended to start at Cott and work our way up the coast. I ended up North of Cott and took some great shots there.

I’m not sure if this was the rock that Jamie photographed in his great photo of Bennion Beach but it seemed a good name for the photo.

Jamie, hope you feel better soon.

Another one from Darwin. You’ll need to be looking on a calibrated monitor to get the feel of this one.

I’m not quite where I’d like to be with b&w photos yet, but I’m getting there.

Another one from the spot I love so much. I’m not entirely happy with it, but sometimes, you just have to stop and do no more. Knowing when to stop is what makes really great photographers.

I love this spot, its beautiful, its at the beach and I feel so calm and relaxed here. This was a recent one.

I have a bunch of photos from Darwin and the NT visit at the start of the year, and I’m slowly getting through them.

Here are a couple more.

This one is from Dripstone cliffs. While it lasted a couple of minutes, it was an awesome sunset, nothing like we get here in Perth.

We decided to hike a while off the beaten track and eventually came to this gully where we could go no further. Thats my mates, Ganesy and Travis in the foreground.

Shot from Trigg late last month.

Still working on it.

So its May, the best time of year for photography in Perth and Global warming has taken all the clouds away. We have no water and no clouds. Not good for me, the farmers or the dams. I think we’ll all be on water rations this summer.

Anyway I have been trying to get a decent photo of the swan brewery for a couple of years now, but haven’t had any luck. Persistenceis what gets you things in photoshop and it paid off a few weeks ago.

Here is the shot.

The blog is now reinstigated, it will show the photos I am working on and how they are progressing.

Stay tuned.

Hi all,

This blog will cease to exist after today and I am moving to a new location. Before I tell you where it is, I want to share a story with you.

I have been extremely busy over the last year renovating my place. Along with full time work, it hasn’t given me much time to do anything else. I really wanted to start a blog with quality posts where I could help people with photography and hopefully extend my knowledge as well. So I purchased a diary and wrote blog entries on the way to work and home on the bus. My idea was to write them all down and then blog the best ones this year.

After Christmas, I visited a friend in Darwin and we decided to go through kakadu for a couple of days. I took my book to Darwin as I wanted to take some good notes about places I photographed. On our travels, we stopped at Gubara and hiked into a water hole. I had my camera bag with me, but left my bag in the car and tripod as it was a fair hike.

We walked into Gubara and had lunch. After a freak flood, we made our way out and back to the car. I was lagging behind taking some photos so my friends went ahead. When I finally reached the car, we had found it had been broken into. Everything was there, except both my bags, they left everything else, even my tripod. So I lost everything, including my diary with my last 6 months notes. I hope whoever has it, gets some use out of it and becomes an awesome photographer.

So its back to the drawing board, I’ll do a post this weekend, if there’s anything you’d like to see please let me know. I promise more posts and good ones. Sorry its taken so long.

So where is the new blog? Right Here.

Any you guys seem to love the before and after shots, here’s one from Saturday. I processed this all in Lightroom, but you can do the same in Camera Raw if you have photoshop CS3 or CS4.

Enjoy
